Some members of Rivers State House of Assembly have suspended Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, MARTIN AMAEWHULE alongside some other members and elected EDISON EHIE as the new speaker of the house.

The members of the house also mandated house committee on petition to investigate and ensure that fair hearing is given to all those been suspended.

The newly elected Speaker, EDISON EHIE who addressed newsmen inside the government House after the seating commended the members for the confidence reposed on him to lead and promised not to disappoint the members, his constituency and Rivers people at large.

EHIE disclosed that twenty-six members sat and elected him as the new speaker, and also promised to ensure independence of the lawmakers for the benefit of Rivers people.
