PORT HARCOURT — Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has selected the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Major Jack, as its deputy governorship candidate.
The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Ikenga Chibike, confirmed the choice in an official statement released on Tuesday.
Jack will run alongside the party’s governorship flagbearer, Hon. Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, who secured the APC nomination during the primary election held in May 2026.
Party insiders describe the selection as a strategic move to ensure geographical balance on the ticket while strengthening the APC's grassroots foothold, particularly across the state's riverine communities.
Jack’s nomination follows his high-profile defection to the APC in December 2025, when he joined the party alongside Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule and several other state lawmakers.
