Rivers State Commissioner Of Police Apprehends Six Suspects In Connection to DPO Bako's Death.

The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Emeka Nwonyi , alongside his tactical units, has apprehended six suspects in Odiemudie community on Saturday September 9th 2023 in Ahaoda East local government area.

The arrest was made while the tactical team were conducting an operation with the objective to recover the deceased DPO’s body and conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the community.

Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko in a statement said among the items seized were a locally crafted pistol and various charms adding that the suspects and the confiscated items are currently under police custody and are undergoing interrogation at the State CID, Port Harcourt.

The statement also disclosed that residents of the community have fled the area due to the recent development.

SP Iringe also added that a new DPO,SP Zukumor Richard has been assigned to the division, accompanied by half a unit of men from Mopol 48, one third unit from Mopol 19,56 and tactical teams.

The statement further tasked the new DPO with a thorough search of the area, and also to apprehend the culprits responsible for the DPO's demise, recovery of the body and location of any operational weapons that were used.

It also assured that the operation will continue whole the investigation remains ongoing.
