Real Madrid and Brazil winger Vinicius Jr won the FIFA Best Men’s Player of the Year award after a stellar 2023-24 season where he scored 24 goals and provided 11 assists, helping Real Madrid claim both the Champions League and La Liga titles.
The 24-year-old, who previously boycotted the Ballon d’Or, reflected on his journey, saying, “It seemed impossible when I played barefoot in the streets of Sao Goncalo, and now I’m here.” Spain’s Rodri and Vinicius’ Real teammate Jude Bellingham finished second and third, respectively.
Martinez, Garnacho, and Ancelotti Honored
Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez was named Goalkeeper of the Year for the second time, while Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho won the Puskas Award for his spectacular bicycle kick against Everton in November 2023. Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti claimed Coach of the Year for leading his team to domestic and European success, dedicating the award to the club and players.
Team of the Year
The FIFA Men’s Team of the Year featured five Real Madrid players, including Vinicius Jr, Toni Kroos, and Jude Bellingham, alongside Premier League stars Emiliano Martinez, Ruben Dias, William Saliba, Rodri, and Erling Haaland. Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal completed the lineup.
