PDP Inaugurates Caretaker Committee in Rivers, Signals Party Repositioning
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has taken a decisive step to steady its structure with the formal inauguration of a Caretaker Committee, signalling renewed efforts to strengthen party unity and rebuild grassroots confidence.
The committee, chaired by Ogbams Ojimah, was inaugurated in Port Harcourt, drawing party leaders, stakeholders and supporters from across the state, in what observers described as a strategic move amid internal and legal challenges facing the party.
Speaking at the ceremony, the South-South Vice Chairman of the PDP, Emmanuel Ogidi, said the party remains cohesive and deeply connected to its grassroots base, despite ongoing difficulties.
He called on the newly inaugurated leadership to pursue reconciliation, urging Rivers PDP members to keep channels open for aggrieved stakeholders who may seek to return after the resolution of pending court cases.
Ogidi emphasised that inclusiveness would be critical to restoring the party’s strength ahead of future political engagements.
In his acceptance remarks, Ogbams Ojimah assured party faithful that the caretaker committee is ready to confront the challenges before it, pledging tireless efforts to reposition the PDP in Rivers State.
He said the committee’s focus would be on stabilising party structures and preparing the ground for renewed political momentum.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by key party figures and supporters from various parts of the state, reflecting broad interest in the PDP’s reorganisation and its next phase of political engagement in Rivers State.
