SSAEC THREATENS TO SHUT DOWN POWER IN OYIGBO FOR ALLEGED HARASSMENT ON MEMBER.

One Benjamin Boro, an electricity staffer, has been beaten up by occupants of Diamond estate in Oyigbo local government area of Rivers State. 


Boro was said to have visited the area after suspected involvement of some occupants in the area in meter bypass but was accosted, beaten up and left with an injury which may lead to blindness. 


The South South/South East Deputy general secretary of senior staff association of electricity and allied companies, Innocent  Lord-Douglas who confirmed this, said the staff may likely loose his sight as he was beaten and his eyes destroyed in the process. 


He called for the disconnection of Nnabuike George of Victoria street by cassava Market,  Diamond estate in Umebule 4 for their alleged involvement in harassing the staff who only came for meter inspection. 


BORO, who is the occupational health and safety officer of Beta 2 chapter, was harrased during his official duty of supervision and ensuring that meters were not by passed. 


LORD-DOUGLAS called for the disconnection of the area and also called on security agencies to apprehend Nnabuike George and his family as he questioned reasons for attacking one of his members.

He said"We learnt they share a prepaid meter with a bar, and there were suspicions that the meter has been bypassed; when our member got to the place, they stopped him from checking the health of the meter".


He disclosed that Mr. Boro received a mob beating: "Boro was beaten up by customers from the bar, Mr Nnabuike who is the owner of the compound, his wife and son".


Mr. Lord Douglas threatened to ensure that justice is served as he ordered for immediate disconnection.
