PDP DISMISS COALITION CLAIM BY FCT MINISTER.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has distanced itself from claims linking political parties in the state to a so-called “Rainbow Coalition” aligned with the Renewed Hope agenda, declaring that the party remains firmly rooted in its identity and political direction.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee, Chief Ogbam Ojima, and the Secretary, Baribeful Nkor, the party dismissed suggestions that Rivers State political structures were being realigned under any external agenda. The party stressed that Rivers has remained a PDP stronghold since 1999 and would not alter its political course ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The PDP in Rivers State is not changing its colour under any agenda,” the statement read, affirming the party’s resolve to retain its dominance in the state’s political landscape.

The party also revealed plans to reposition its structures in preparation for the 2027 polls, noting that the reorganization process would be driven from the grassroots.

According to the statement, party activities and mobilization efforts will commence across all 23 local government areas to strengthen internal cohesion and reconnect with supporters.

While acknowledging rising political tensions in the state, the PDP urged its members to remain calm and law-abiding. It cautioned against what it described as provocation from “anti-democratic forces,” emphasizing that its focus remains on protecting the will of the electorate.

The party concluded by reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that the voices and mandates of the people of Rivers State are not only heard but effectively translated into governance outcomes, as it looks ahead to the next electoral cycle.
