A chieftain of the people's democratic Party Dr. Nname Robinson Ewor has criticized the National Judicial Council for failing in its statutory responsibility in ensuring transparency and credibility of judges and matters before courts.
Dr. Ewor who is also the chairman governing council of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic said the judiciary is no longer the hope of the common man, noting that judges have subjected themselves to working for politicians and ignoring their core mandate to the people.
He questioned the rationale behind what he described as churning of orders by Judges to favor one man against the general populace.
"They have churned out court orders and judgements to the extent that judgements and court orders are now worthless. People no longer have value/regard for them".
Dr. Ewor while reacting to the recent judgement by the appeal court in Abuja said representing the 2024 budget was not feasible noting that the time for the budget has almost elapsed.
He further argued that Martins Amaewhule led assembly vacated their seats by voluntarily defecting to the APC stressing that court judgment will not reverse the defection.
He urged the National Judicial Council to "wake up from their slumber" and reactivate their course of existence, strictly supervising and regulating the judicial system.
