Women and traders in Ogbogoro community, Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State have staged a protest over the disbandment of the security outfit in the area. The traders, predominantly women, recounted past experiences of theft and insecurity in the market before the establishment of the local vigilante group.

They expressed concerns over the rising vulnerability in the market and appealed to the Obio/Akpor Local Government Authority to expedite plans to reinstate the security outfit. Some of the women said" Before now, we pay to different cult groups daily at the market, if we don't pay, we won't sell market, since Azubuike A.K.A Ocean created this community policing, we go to the market without paying taxes to criminals ".
"We have been suffering for years not until Ocean came to rescue us, the women cried and wailed as they continued to plead with government at all levels to intervene.
They disclosed that the community suffered for over twenty years in the hands of cult groups, as they also revealed the huge sum of money been forcefully collected from them many years ago as compared to now, they said" We don't pay a dime to Ospac, if we have problem Ospac helps us ".

"Ocean is the saviour sent by God to us, Government please leave Ocean and Ospac for us, he does not steal or extort from us, he has helped us with total security, please give us opportunity to sleep well".
They expressed fear of influx of criminals if the security outfit remains disbanded nothing that only community police can secure and give police men the right information to destroy criminal structures.
The protesters, while gathered in a large crowd, emphasized that the local vigilantes not only restored order to the market but also played a significant role in safeguarding their properties and lives of every member of the community.
