Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered an electrifying performance, scoring 32 points and grabbing 14 rebounds to propel the Milwaukee Bucks to a 110-102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, securing their place in the NBA Cup final.
The Bucks will clash with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the championship game on Tuesday night (01:30 GMT Wednesday) in Las Vegas. The Thunder punched their ticket to the final with a 111-96 win over the Houston Rockets, thanks to a stellar 32-point effort from Canadian star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Antetokounmpo, who leads the NBA in scoring this season, filled the stat sheet with nine assists, four blocks, and a steal in the Bucks' victory. Supporting him were Damian Lillard, who contributed 25 points, and Brook Lopez, who added 16. On the Hawks’ side, Trae Young shone brightly with 35 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to halt Milwaukee.
Reflecting on the win, Antetokounmpo credited the team’s defensive effort and unselfish play. "We disrupted their offense," he said. "We moved the ball, played as a team, and hit key shots down the stretch. That’s what got us the win. We trust each other and avoid hero ball. It’s all about playing together."
This marks a shot at redemption for the Bucks, who fell short in last season's inaugural in-season tournament semi-finals. After a rocky 2-8 start to the season, Milwaukee has found their groove, winning 12 of their last 15 games.
Meanwhile, Gilgeous-Alexander was instrumental in Oklahoma City’s triumph, adding eight rebounds, six assists, and five steals to his impressive 32-point game. "I just tried to stay aggressive through the highs and lows, and it worked out," he said. "If we bring the same energy and defense on Tuesday, we’ll have a chance. We just need to play hard, stay together, and have fun."
The stage is now set for an epic showdown between two of the league’s hottest teams. The Bucks and Thunder will battle it out for NBA Cup glory in what promises to be an exciting finale.
