Ten people confirmed dead after invasion by gunmen in Degema community.

People of Degema community in Degema local government area of Rivers State have decried alleged invasion by some gunmen attached to Asari Dokubo, killing about ten residents. 

Chief of the community PRECIOUS ABADI who made this known in an interview with NRM's reporter accused Asari Dokubo and his boys of continuous harassment. 

He said the invasion and disruption of movement happened last night noting that his people are now living in fear. 

Chief ABADI who called state government and security agencies to come to their aid said villagers have fled the area. 

He said "they intercepted us on our way back from the mortuary and stopped us from passing, we asked to know what the issue is but they started shooting us".

Chief Abadi revealed that the issue had been going on for some time, stressing that it is a case of land grabbing where the people of Degema strongly refused the infiltration of people from other local government. 

He said "they have been killing us, trying to make us submit to their demands, they killed over ten persons last night, carried the body, leaving some of our people with bullet wounds".
