Rivers State Commissioner of Police deploys men to community in Gokana local government over fresh cult killings.

Rivers state commissioner of police EMEKA NWOYI has ordered fresh deployment of operatives to Bodo community in Gokana local government area.

This move followed a fresh attack by suspected cultists who invaded the place on Monday.

The state CP who made this known when speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt said he met with chiefs and other stakeholders in the area before taking the decisions, as he stated his intention to contain the activities of cultists in the area.

He said “I have already directed some men to the area, so anytime from now, though we do not have enough operatives, I am trying to see where to pick out some men to Bodo to strengthen security there.

You may wish to know that on Monday, some cultists killed two youths on surveillance duty at a pipeline belonging to shell petroleum development company in the area.

It was also gathered that some hoodlums stormed the community and killed a yet to be identified youth.

The latest crisis caused pandemonium as some residents, including chiefs, fled to safer towns for fear of being killed.

Vice chairman of Bodo council of traditional rulers, Joseph Kpobia, who spoke to journalists, raised alarm that his life and those of other chiefs were in danger, stressing that they were being threatened by the cultists.

He disclosed that he was on the wanted list of the cultists who he said wanted to kill him.

Joseph said “old men and women in this community are hiding in their houses because some people are sending these bad boys to come and spoil our peaceful community.

“Even as I speak, my name is with them, so I beg the state governor to come and help secure this community so that we, our mothers and children will know peace again.
