COUNSEL TO ATIKU ABUBAKAR ACCUSES PEPT OF FRUSTRATING THEIR APPEAL TO SUPREME COURT.

The presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party in the just concluded February 25th election Atiku Abubakar has accused the presidential election tribunal of making frantic effort to frustrate his appeal to the Supreme Court on the judgment of Wednesday.

Atiku made this known through his legal counsels, where they alleged that PEPT has refused to give them certified true copies of the judgment for its filings at the Supreme Court, three days after it was delivered.

The PDP candidate lamented that he was yet to receive a copy of the judgment after formally applying to the court for certified true copies.

The special assistant to Atiku on public communications Phrank Shaibu in a statement made available to newsmen said “by not making available to Atiku the certified true copies of the judgment, is undermining Atiku’s and Nigerians quest for justice.”

Shaibu reminded the PEPT that “it had made heavy weather at the delivery of its judgment on Wednesday, adding that parties need to adhere strictly to the time schedule set by the court.”

It said “the PEPT is not oblivious that three precious days of the 14 day limit for parties to file their processes at the highest court have been wasted by the appeal court.”

The statement also reminded the PEPT that it struck out testimonies of some of the witnesses of Atiku during the litigation at the court of first instance because their statements on oath were filed out of time.

It asked if the election tribunal court does not understand that the lawyers representing Atiku and PDP need to digest the judgment as contained in the CTC, which it stated represents the authentic pronouncements made in court, in order to formulate its case filing?
