ADP RIVERS STATE: WE ARE NOT PART OF RENEWED HOPE COALITION AGENDA

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has rejected recent remarks credited to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory suggesting that Rivers State has no functioning political parties, insisting that it remains active and independent within the state’s political space.

Speaking during an interview with Nexus Report Media, the Rivers State Chairman of the ADP, Kendrick Christian, described the claim as misleading and dismissive of existing opposition structures in the state.

Christian emphasized that the ADP is neither aligned with nor a member of the so-called Renewed Hope political coalition, stressing that the party operates as a separate political entity with clearly defined principles. “We are a political party with our own ideology, vision, and identity,” he said, adding that those values do not mirror or support the agenda of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, the ADP has deliberately maintained its independence despite the frequent political reshuffling that has marked Rivers State politics. He noted that the party has refused to be drawn into what he described as a culture of constant defections and shifting alliances.

Christian said the party’s decision to stand apart reflects its commitment to offering an alternative political voice to residents of the state, rather than joining dominant power blocs for convenience.

The ADP chairman concluded by reaffirming the party’s readiness to remain engaged in Rivers State’s political process, insisting that opposition parties continue to play a vital role in sustaining democracy and political plurality in the state.
