The Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), Dr. Dagogo Wokoma, has charged administrators of tertiary institutions in the state to continuously uphold the core principles of academic excellence, describing education as the ultimate catalyst for sustainable societal growth.
Wokoma gave the charge during a courtesy visit to his office by the Rector and principal officers of the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Port Harcourt.
In a statement issued by the Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit in the SSG’s office, Juliana Masi, the government expressed absolute confidence that the polytechnic would continue to expand its footprint as a premier center of learning, innovation, and human capacity development.
Speaking during the interface, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Moses Neebee, disclosed that several landmark projects initiated by Governor Siminalayi Fubara on the school campus are now completed and ready for official commissioning.
Neebee confirmed that the institution’s programs remain fully accredited by both the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the Federal Ministry of Education, positioning the polytechnic for greater impactful contributions to Nigeria's technological sector. He, however, appealed to the state government for sustained infrastructural and financial support to maintain its upward trajectory.
The Rector further commended Governor Fubara for his unwavering commitment to the polytechnic, particularly for fulfilling his administration's promises regarding rapid project execution and the prioritized welfare of academic and non-academic staff.
