Rivers Government Expresses Faith in Divine Guidance at 2026 Holy Ghost Rally

The Rivers State Government has reaffirmed its belief that divine guidance remains central to leadership, peace, and sustainable development in the state, declaring that with God’s support, present and future challenges can be overcome.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara made this known at the 2026 Holy Ghost Rally held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, an event that drew thousands of worshippers from across the state and beyond. Speaking through his deputy, Professor Ngozi Nma-Odu, the governor said the government’s confidence is anchored in the conviction that God remains sufficient to strengthen institutions and preserve harmony within communities.

Describing the rally’s theme, “The All-Sufficient God,” as apt for the times, the deputy governor noted that the message resonates strongly in an era marked by economic pressures and social uncertainty. She said the theme underscores the belief that when human capacity is stretched, divine intervention provides direction and hope.

“God’s sufficiency reminds us that leadership, governance and service to the people must be guided by wisdom beyond human strength,” Nma-Odu stated, while commending the church for its consistent prayers and moral influence in Rivers State.

She also acknowledged the role of faith-based organisations in fostering unity, ethical conduct and social stability, adding that the state government values their contributions to peacebuilding and national cohesion.

Delivering the sermon, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, drew from Genesis 17:1 to describe God as supreme and self-sufficient, capable of meeting every human need. According to him, the same God who creates also restores, even in situations where human effort appears exhausted.

“There is a point where science, medicine and human wisdom stop, and God takes over,” Adeboye said, encouraging worshippers to trust in divine power for restoration and renewed hope.

The rally concluded with prayers for Rivers State, its leaders and the nation, reinforcing the link between spiritual reflection and the pursuit of peace, progress and good governance.
