INEC Fixes February 21 for Bye-Elections in Ahoada-East II, Khana II

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that bye-elections into the Ahoada-East II and Khana II State Constituencies in Rivers State will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

The electoral body said voting will begin at 8:30 a.m. across all designated polling units in the two constituencies, urging eligible voters to prepare accordingly.

In a statement issued by the Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, Geraldine Ekelemu, on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC reiterated its readiness to conduct the polls in line with established electoral guidelines.

According to the commission, only registered voters in the affected constituencies who possess valid Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) will be permitted to participate in the exercise.

Accreditation, the statement added, will be carried out using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) to ensure transparency and credibility.

The commission emphasized its strict compliance with electoral regulations, maintaining a firm stance on “No PVC, No voting.”

INEC further appealed to residents of Ahoada-East II and Khana II to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the polls, and to turn out in large numbers to fulfill their civic obligation.
